SCHOOL BUDGET CUTS

March6

You should have all received a letter today about school budgets. Its really important that you take the time to read this as Wigan schools are losing out. The government are changing the funding formula for school budgets and Wigan schools will receive less per pupil than over 100 other authorities. In real term we could lose over £100,000 next year. To make matters worse school costs are increasing as well. If your children are moving on into secondary then they seem to be losing out more and one of our local High School’s is likely to lose around £600,000 (16 teachers). All local headteachers are asking parents to email or write to Andy Burnham asking him to support our schools the details are on the letter. We are also completing a petition and all senior leaders will have them available in the morning, after school and at parents evening. Please support us to ensure that your child’s education is funded as they deserve. Many Thanks Mrs Cathie

PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE – OCT 2016

January7

Thank you to all the parents that completed the parent questionnaire during parents evening last term.  Below are the results and additional comments made.  We received a similar number of questionnaires the last time we asked parents to complete one Autumn 14.  The main issues then were behaviour and lack of trips/events.  We have worked really hard on behaviour in school and our children are polite and well-mannered with positive attitudes to learning, this was commented on during our last  external Teaching and Learning review (Nov 16) and has been commented on a number of time by visitors to school.  However, we will continue to work on this. We have increased our school trips and events and they occur during the year.  Now trips or visitors are used for enhancing the curriculum and school subsidises them to keep the cost to parents down. We have also developed assemblies and parent enrichment sessions so that parents can see what their child is learning.

PE KIT

September11

PE lessons have started but there were still a number of children without PE kits in school.  Please make sure your child/children have their PE kits in for Monday (tomorrow).

Reception to Year 2: black shorts, white t-shirt and black pumps

Year 3 to Year 6: Black tracksuit bottoms (no leggings) white t-shirt and black trainers (optional black tracksuit top).

Children can wear black shorts when the weather is warmer but as some PE lessons will be done outside or Y4-6 children go to Leigh Sports Village, tracksuit bottoms are needed when the weather becomes colder.

If you have any concerns please speak to a senior leader.
